Rasdaman presented at US Westpoint Academy

At the prestigious US West Point Academy the rasdaman CEO and university professor, Peter Baumann, explained how key capabilities like federation, AI, and interoperability can leverage Big Data for geo intelligence and seamless information flow among NATO allies.

Between June 7 and 12, the 16th International Conference on Military Geosciences (ICMG26) was held at West Point. Traditionally, this event fosters sharing research, practice, and experience in military geoscience.

This year, among the presenters was Peter Baumann who lectured about "Federated Cloud/Edge Big Earth Data Analytics for Multi-Domain GEOINT". He explained how structured, organized Big Geo Data management forms the basis for information availability, including AI inference and data federations. He pointed out that federation actually is not enough, but needs to be location-transparent, so that users do not need to know where data sit, how they are stored, and how requests get processed, up to distributed data fusion. A live demo of rasdaman datacubes illustrated this capability and its extension into cloud/edge federations. Notably, rasdaman has already been demonstrated successfully in orbit on an ESA nano satellite.

The US Military Academy at West Point, being the USA’s historically first military academy, prepares young men and women to become officers in the U.S. Army. "It was an honor and inspiring to present our thoughts and results in this elite location, to an outstandingly skilled audience", says Baumann.
